PROSECUTION RESTS IN HIGH PROFILE MURDER TRIAL

Russell Hebets June 15, 2019

After 19 days of presenting a case built on mostly circumstantial evidence, Florida prosecutors have rested their case against Casey Anthony, who is on trial for first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. The state claims that Anthony’s conduct and the lies she told about her daughter’s whereabouts weren’t the only reasons to convict her. They also have relied on forensics experts who talked about smells of human decomposition in Anthony’s car, searches on her computer, including how to make chloroform, and duct tape found on the girl’s skull.

Top Denver criminal defense attorneys are watching the case closely and believe that Anthony’s defense attorneys will present a standard motion to throw the case out of court before presenting their defense. If that motion is denied, Anthony’s lawyers, who contend that Caylee drowned in her grandparents swimming pool, said they are ready to call their first witness later this week.
